I never spend a tenner on a kindle book and, frankly, I didn t mean to this time either. However, I don t entirely regret the accidental purchase A lot of Romesh s anecdotes are very funny I ve been able to randomly drop amusing Romesh facts into conversations with my husband He thinks I m stalking Romesh because he knows I d never spend a tenner on a kindle book The mistake was made when I was looking for a funny book to read whilst feeding my baby in the middle of the night I usually read thrillers but was becoming paranoid about murderers hiding under the cot I found some of the stories about his stand up quite repetitive but even at 3am I didn t fall asleep whilst reading 4 stars.

Really enjoyed this book There s shared hilarity and genuine heart breaking moments Romesh comes across as loyal, humble and honest a bit of a dick at times, as we all are.I have always loved stand up and anything that gives me a really good jaw aching, belly hurting laugh Which he does.Having lost my dad this year to heart attack, become vegan and live near Crawley I could relate to much of his stories Particularly loved the hilarious vape and hypothetical weed story, also the Idris Elba story.I wish him continued success and look forward to his next book.

I can understand that some people would not like this book, although I m a little baffled as to why you would read the life story of a comedian you do not like If you find Romesh Ranganathan s comedy unamusingly grumpy, sarcastic and petty, maybe try reading something else I ve heard Alan Titchmarsh is a great wit I love reading stories of funny things that have happened to funny people Things which may have helped shape their personality and sense of humour Although Romesh s upbringing was not horrible, it was not perfect either I was born in the same town at the same time, but my comfy white middle class upbringing has made me unaware of and shocked by the causal old skool racism he regularly faced and faces He has learnt to live with it, and a lot of his stories end along the lines of Yeah, thanks for that mate You re a prick, hope you re dead now I assumed these people s attitudes were long dead and buried However, this is mostly a positive story of ups, downs and struggling to succeed at something you love I enjoyed it.

I love Romesh He makes me snort laugh which isn t pretty but feels good I loved this book because he spoke alot about his journey Sometimes I feel like people think that that level of success grows on trees and overnight success is the norm Stories like this are so important because they show the reality of what it takes to get to the level he has.

I liked his style This book is written like most of us lead our lives All over the place jumping between subjects and parts of his life None of us live life in a linear fashion Romesh takes you through the highs and lows of his life warts and all I really enjoyed reading it.

I love Romesh and was looking forward to reading this book However, I didn t finish it as it was so boring.Romesh does warn you at the beginning that he goes off on a tangent and he is correct I personally found it frustrating reading an interesting section, only for him to go off on such a long tangent that I then couldn t even remember what he was originally talking about. Not for me i m afraid
