This author isn t for me I end up resenting her heroines strongly They are powerless victims, useless damsels in distress, unable and unwilling to use those neurons flying around in those hysterical, irrational heads of theirs. This book grated on my nerves, and the temptation to dnf was pretty strong Again we have lust love at first sight Again we have the deus ex machina of an external force making her a zombie see the drug in The Prophet I understand this author tries for a Hitchkockesque atmosphere, but rather then vertigo, you get tummy ache Hitchcock played on paranoia, never on hysteria Or maybe fairly the different media damaged this author, as you really don t want to be in the head of those women.Add a no world building policy, no mystery, and a woe is me hero and you might get my irritationor not Enjoy your read grin

This is the first Silhouette Shadows that I ve ever read These books tend to follow a simple format from what I ve seen from others in the imprint that I have, with usually 15 chapters and about 250 pages each They were published in the 90s and combined horror and romance Erin Ramsey is a horror novelist who is brought home by her sister s death She meets Nick Slade, who is a detective investigating a series of murders whose victims all have something in common the victims are all found exsanguinated You can guess where that s going Spoiler the vampires are not romantic creatures, but evil.It isn t the most complex story, probably due to the limits in the format itself You probably won t foresee all the spoilers, but you ll definitely guess a few before the ending There s the right mix of horror and romance If you can pick it up for cheap and like vampires, you should check it out.

Silhouette Shadows was the most unique category romance line because it tried to combine horror and romance without it turning into repetitive urban fantasy stuff that is considered supernatural romance now The problem is, even though the line is filled with great authors that went on to have their own following and success in the contemporary romance industry, category romance as a whole has rigid guidelines and a page count limit that pretty much encourages rushed plots I didn t enjoy Dark Obsession because it was neither enough romance or enough horror It was a muddy, rushed mess.

Was he her protector Or a predator

It was the final glimpse Erin Ramsey would have of her sister Megan s body, drained of blood, lying lifeless in a New York alley Tormented by the fact that she hadn t been there when her sister needed her, Erin promises herself that she ll find Megan s killer.

Detective Nicholas Slade tells Erin to go home, back to California He says he doesn t want her to be the murderer s next victim But his warning comes too late Erin is already in danger, in thrall to a man who cloaks himself in shadows and haunts her nightmares.

Erin is desperate to find her sister s murderer and desperate to avoid becoming his prey but she feels her own life spinning out of control as the silver eyed specter from her dreams lures her deeper into his world Nick may be the only one who can help her, but she s afraid to trust him Her deep attraction to the secretive detective is tinged with fear He only works the night shift He wears

I read the first book in the Graveyard Queen series and I liked it very much, I then read the rest of the series to date all within a few days and I liked the series even this book however I did not like at all, the grammar was off, and it seems everyone was either speaking snapily or angrily, and then we find Erin who has a hard time trusting and opening up to people give in and have sex with Slade, then a few words from Racine and she is wondering if he could be trusted, anyone else see the contradiction there.

in 1995 Prior to the urban fantasy, writing of Laurell K Hamilton and other well know authors this book Considered a Dreamscape Could be considered a mild version of today s elaborate books The hero s status is never made clear, Erin fights but does she yield to her dreams nightmares While not written with today s blatant otherworldly style.A very enjoyable read

It wasn t too bad of a story, albeit how easy it was to figure out who was who in the very beginning The repoir between the two main characters was good although there was a bit of repetition in the story so much so that I was starting to repeat it in my sleep The concept was pretty good.
