Ok Let me begin with the negative stuff because I really want to be done with it asap and then go on about how amazing this book was.We get such an awesome plot and characters, would it be too much to ask for some consistency in the world building too At first, vampires needed an invitation to enter the Glass House I get that Then, the humans needed an invitation instead I get that too Now everybody s strolling in and out like nobody s business and it s driving me nuts Also, I know that writing about parents can be boring, but when you re doing the YA thing you cana Have them killed early on, b Make them douchebags who don t give a rats ass about their kid, or c Have them physically or mentally unable to do to it Claire s healthy and loving parents come and go whenever it suits the plot, and even though I m not interested in reading about them, the whole thing just feels wrong.Okie, done with that Now to the good stuff.I don t know what happened to Claire from books 1 2 3, but I m a huge fan of this Claire from book 4 It does make sense She was a lost and frightened kid in the first books, but now that she knows the rules of the game she can put that sharp mind of her s to use and I LOVE HER Team Claire all the way.I think that in the previous books, Claire was shinning through everybody else, but in this one the dynamics of the relationships change She is no longer the baby of the house, not to big bro Michael, not to boyfriend Shane, not to best friend Eve She is their equal in every way that counts and she does a pretty good job protecting them from enemies and from themselves. Here s my Claire with Shane btwWhat I love about this series is that you never know who the kids can safely consider as their friend or their foe, for the simple reason that there are no good and bad characters in Morganville There are just alliances that are built for a certain purpose and once it s fulfilled, you never know what the frenemies will do.The previous books were both action packed and strong on the suspense element, but I loved what the writer did with this one There was an uneasy calm before the thunderstorm throughout the book Like, you know that something awful is gonna happen and all you can do is wait to see who will go down first And there is nobody coming to the rescue and OMG it s 1 a.m and I MUST go to bed but WAIT, just one page and and andermYou get the meaning Fix the consistency thing, Morganville And do something about about those parents Thnx.

4 Not All Parties Are Fun StarsAfter having to fight for their lives with crazy vampires and even crazier anti vampire fanatics nothing should be able to scare our heroes any, until a strange vampire walks through their door A vampire so bad that even the worst vampires in Morganville seem to be afraid of, one who claims to be Amelie s father Who knew the Ice Queen actually had family that was even scarier than her The vampire isn t alone He has with him 2 extra vampires way too dangerous on their own right and the female has sadly taken an unhealthy interest in Shane But the worst is that they have Claire s parents with them and they bring grand news They are moving to MorganvilleBut Oliver and Amelie can handle them Can t they It doesn t seem so certain after it becomes quite obvious that the vampires have zero wish to leave Morganville or when Amelie is ready to throw a party, a deadly one at that, in honor of her father How can Claire keep her friends safe when she seems to be the only one NOT invited to the feast This book is a turning point for the series For the first time we see Amelie and Oliver put aside their silly grievances and work towards a common goal, getting rid of a dangerous enemy The usual risks are still there though Amelie s view of what is an acceptable loss to succeed in the long run isn t the same as Claire s For Amelie the loss of a few lives is just an afterthought if it means saving the town but Claire can t allow her friends and family to be the casualties of the vampires war for survival. It s obvious that Claire has grown up a lot The change started in the previous book and was semented in this one She is becoming quite the badass Shane was also much mature in this one although he still fought over silly reasons The only one I was kind of annoyed with was Michael who is starting to grow and distant from his friends by keeping secrets and inadvertently hurting them.It s also nice to finally see the people of Morganville, humans and vampires, working together for once I m sure they will go back to us against them once the problem with Bishop Amelie s dad goes away but until then they kick ass.My only problem was with the freaking protection of the Glass House WHat the hell is up with that First Vampires couldn t enter without invitations because Michael was human Then humans couldn t enter because Michael is a vampire Now neither vamps nor humans can enter Which would be fine with me, I would accept the explanation that since Claire, Eve and Shane live in the house along with Michael the vampire protection is for them But at odd times the protection seems not to be working It comes and goes without any explanation I did love the way the house threw Ysandre and Francois on their asses though Wish mine would throw unwanted visitors out like this too.

Will you swear And Myrnin said, shockingly I will And he proceeded to, a string of swear words that made Claire blink He ended with, frothy fool born apple john Cheater of vandals and defiler of dead dogs and did another twirl and a bow.Well Feast of Fools, definitely isn t a filler book Although slow in the middle, it was probably the best one yet Do these just keep getting better Hmminteresting.I loved every minute of this one I think it s safe to say I love Myrnin now, and I know my love for him is going to keep growing He s so incredibly scary, but fascinating, I think he s one of the most intriguing characters in this series so far Rachel Caine just keeps it coming It s all constant, doesn t lack action and is just incredible Rachel Caine, manages to keep the back story up at the start of the book if people decide to just join in in the middle not that you would , or if you need a refresher of after an MV break So it doesn t lack information She manages to make twists and turns through out, shocks, and cries Swoons, and loves Feast of Fools has it all, even a mega cliffhanger As I said at the beginning, this book isn t a filler It s a continuance of an epically good vampire series, and one I ve needed to read for a while now I m so glad that I am I just want and .All my favourite characters return, and some of the non so favourite characters, but that s what makes the story great The one big thing I loved about this book was the way every Morganville vampire came together in their time of need to try and overthrow Master Bishop unsuccessfully I might add Vampire nemesis like Amelie and Oliver come together for the sake of the town, and I love the strength that Caine showed us in this book Bringing everyone together for the sake of the town and it s residents Anyway, this book was great That cliffy at the end was a killer But, luckily for me, I had Lord of Misrule right at my side and ready to begin And I ve begun and I can t wait to get , and , and Because there are, , and Amazeballs

Crap, are you thinking what I m thinking I m thinking we have about fifteen vampires and no blood, Claire said Is that it No, I was thinking we re out of chips Of course that s what I was thinking view spoiler Feast of Fools was a pretty good book Pretty sure the only character I really hated was Ysandre The bitch needed to die a very painful death So I approve of the holy water being dumped on her.Bitchy Monica was back but then she kind of became nicer at the end of the book Which most likely has to deal with the fact that she was basically sacrificed to Bishop and didn t die But then saw a whole bunch of people die at this death ball that she attended.Claire still kind of made annoying choices that most likely put her life in danger But it s all good because she got Shane at the end, right Other than that, I thought it was pretty cool that she could get the house to kick vampires out.Speaking of annoying, Claire s parents were exactly that and that is all I have to say about them. Then there s the whole Michael thing and how Eve, Shane, and Claire all thought that he could magically protect him for the most powerful vampires ever You people are all dumb as shit if you think the youngest vampire ever made can take on some ancient piece of shit DUMB However, it all worked out for them since the vampires that didn t vow loyalty to Bishop fought him and his vampire henchmen at the ball Oh, and they found out that Bishop s blood is the cure for all of the vampires in Morganville. Then shit hit the fan even at the end of this book when Amelie was stabbed, then healed, then came up with a plan to get Bishop and his vampire gang from hell out of the town Oh and Shane is just the biggest piece of human bait ever Claire knows it Amelie knows it BUT does Shane know it I bet he does Which mean humans are just so freaking stupid in this town I get that I didn t like Shane earlier in the bookand maybe in like half of this book too, but I assume people would realize whether or not they were bait, right hide spoiler

Feast of Fools is the fourth installment of the Morganville Vampire Series, and it was a bit slower placed than the first three books However, it did deliver an explosive ending with a signature series cliffhanger I ve become vested in the main characters of this series, which includes Claire, Shane, Eve and Michael I like how their actions and loyalty toward each other remains consistent from book to book, and it was nice to see Shane begin to accept Michael as a vampire In this book, three new baddies enter the town of Morganville, including Amelie s father Bishop and his two evil sidekicks Fran ois and Ysandre As part of an ancient vampire ritual, they must host a feast for Bishop, but the true intentions of the vampire elite are not revealed until the final hours of the show As with the other three books, I was kept riveted with the steady paced events and interested as new characters entered the scene and caused their fair share of havoc Regardless of this book being a little bit slower paced, it was fun to read and interesting to learn about the vampire lore Great series that s moved to the top of my list as one of my fave vampire series On to the next installment to see what becomes of Shane s fate Why did she give him the book Gah

  6. says:

As these books continue, I find I am less and less concerned with what will happen to Morganville and its inhabitants and concerned with when Shane is going to break and finally do Claire Not that I condone that sort of thing, but it s a book and seriously, there is only so much tension you can build in a book before it starts to get repetitive So, my unauthorized and likely, unwanted, opinion is, let it happen or kill Shane off Finally, the other beef I have is that the reader is left hanging at the end of every book And it s significant enough that if you don t read the next book quickly enough, you lose the thread But, for a vampire series, these aren t half bad Find my review on the next book in this seemingly never ending series here book Lord of Misrule 3558003

This was definitely the most exciting installment thus far A new threat comes to Morganville An outside threat Enemies become allies as the town bands together to protect itself We get of Myrnin, which made me happy I love Claire s development, and Shane is growing on me The relationships in the series really make the story, which is why I was so happy to see those on opposite sides banding together in the face of a common enemy As with the preceding novel, this book ends on a cliff hanger It s one of the most episodic series I ve ever read, and really feels like reading a tv show I dig it On to the next installment

The stakes have been raised and I mean that pun intended Claire is slowly becoming of a badass rather than a scared little girl She can t do much against the vamps but she manages for the most part I have a feeling she will be very important for the rest of the series Seems like overall the series is picking up I still have minor annoyances usually revolving around Shane being a dumbass, but I m really enjoying this series.

Rachel Caine has done it again She starts FEAST OF FOOLS like she does the other books in the Morgenville Vampire series right in the middle of the action which grabs you by the hair, yanks you in, and won t let go until the story is over.At the end of MIDNIGHT ALLEY, the foursome living in the Glass House gets some unexpected visitors in the form of Claire s parents and in Buffy the Vampire Slayer Speak the Big Bad Mr Bishop A.K.A Amelie s father With him in town there has to be trouble a brewin. On top of the trouble that is inevitably on the way, Claire has to deal with the stress of her parents being in town She is, of course, worried about their safety, but also has to convince them that she isn t going to move in with them that she is perfectly capable of staying at the Glass House Claire s duties to Amelie are still a high priority which requires that she continues her work with Myrnin while at the same time making it to all of her classes during the day.The Big Event where everything hits the fan takes place during an invitation only masquerade feast Claire manages to get herself an invitation and is front row center when everything comes to a head Mr Bishop is in Morganville for one reason and if he doesn t get what he wants he will declare war on those that oppose him Battlelines are drawn, people are in danger You ll never believe how this one ends.Rachel Caine is an amazing writer She writes so vividly that you can picture everything that is happening in your head like a movie As crazy as it sounds, I feel like I know the characters from the book and I love the developing relationships between Claire and Shane Eve and Michael The one drawback to the series is they are definately NOT stand alone novels If you picked up FEAST OF FOOLS without having read the other three in the series I think you d be lost So, take my word for it If you haven t read GLASS HOUSES, THE DEAD GIRL S DANCE, and MIDNIGHT ALLEY go do it right now You won t regret it.
