In my review of Book 1, In The Image of Man, I stated, If there is one thing that I dislike immensely is reading Book 1 of a series then having to wait for Book 2 when this first book has entertained me immensely, uplifted me spiritually and reinforced spiritual truths from the Bible All the three things that I expect to see and like to see from Christian fiction This author delivers this with ease and expertise Quite a feat and talent for his debut novel.Well, now this applies to Book 2 I sincerely hope that Book 3 will not be too long in the waiting as the ending of this one leaves the door wide open as to what happens to Ima after the events in this instalment Again, Roush has entertained me immensely, uplifted me spiritually and reinforced spiritual truths from the Bible. It was great to be back in the world Roush created in Book 1, In The Image of Man Although I was looking forward to seeing the plot develop between Chris and Sarah, Marilyn and Daryl, Pastor Thomas and others, this instalment focusses solely on what happened to Ima at the end of Book 1 This entire novel is devoted to her and the spiritual warfare between the forces of Mael and his demonic horde and those of the Host of Heaven. This is necessary to further the plot of this trilogy Roush has this plot full of action and adventure, twists and turns while interspersed throughout with the spiritual warfare principles that were included in Book 1 Here we learn about submission to God s will and His Ways Mainly through the angel Adiya, Roush shows the reader that despite wanting to act on her own will in the spiritual warfare battles against Ophois, she instead keeps her obedience to God, understanding that His Sovereignty is above her instincts and she is a Warrior and Messenger, and not the one who has the final say Every time she kept herself in check with God in this regard, it touched my spirit as I can fully relate to wanting to act on my own behalf when situations have gone pear shaped before going to the Throne of Grace and seeking His counsel first This is just one example of what Roush instructs throughout the novel There are many It is also fitting in a spiritual warfare novel of this calibre to have the Spirit present and active in the lives of both the Angels and Patricia and Charles as this is what should be the experience of the Christian in real life.I felt endeared to the characters in this novel than the previous Not saying that the previous were not well developed they were, just that in this novel, I felt Roush had made the angels Adiya, Eldwyn and the humans, Patricia and Charles, the mims, Manufactured Image of Man , human clones Ima and Trenton, very relatable and real, seeing that the majority of the novel comprises these characters I loved the grandfatherly figure of Eldwyn, the angel guardian of Charles, who has this demeanor, not due to any aging characteristic but due to his personality My heart warmed every time Eldwyn entered the plot I loved Adiya, her strength in battle, determination to be the best she could be, forever loyal and submitted to her Lord and the hierarchy of the chain of command of her angelic warriors mainly to Captin Eitan He is also one very strong and powerful strategist, the leader who takes charge, but also understands and is caring and considerate to his angelic charges.Having read this second novel, it is quite evident that he is very consistent with how he constructs his novels The flow never slows, just like the pace, it is fluid, like a bubbling brook, no peaks and troughs in the pace, his characters are relatable and you either like or hate them which is evident in a series like this where it deals with good versus evil, light versus darkness and spiritual warfare His adherence to biblical truths and honouring God has not waned in this novel and this latter point is one of the strengths and pillars of this novel s and the series construction.Roush is one author who is not afraid to present God for who He is and His many character traits He is also not afraid to present in his novels the behaviour of what a Christian should be In Patricia and Charles, we see two people who are selfless and committed to God, submitted to Him and put Him first in what they do daily Patricia is sensitive to the Spirit, has constant daily prayer with Him as a prayer warrior and receives discernment and contact with and from the Spirit during the day She is a mentor to those she comes in contact with and uses her experiences with Ima to teach her about God, His ways and what His Word is about Charles, while not a prayer warrior, is of a hands on person, who is an encourager of the faith Both compliment each other here and this is a good example of what biblical marriage should be.I loved how Roush has constructed the plot to lead Ima into the knowledge and experience of who God, Jesus and His Spirit are and her need for Him as Saviour These events are not contrived which is a great asset to the storyline and is in line with the nature of who God is, but rather had a natural occurrence and follow on from the input of Patricia and Charles in her life in the circumstances that surround the spiritual warfare concerning the battle over her life. There is an intriguing twist relating to Ima being a mim, that is not suggested as a result of the events in Book 1, and it shows of the Sovereignty of God in relation to His creation I did not see this coming and it sets the stage for some very good plot developments in Book 3 Something very good to look forward to that should end this trilogy extremely well. For those who have not read Book 1, In The Image of Man, they will have a great blessing and a treat in being able to read both of these together I really pray that Roush will be able to release Book 3 as quickly as possible.Highly Recommended.World building 5 5Characters 5 5Story 5 5Spiritual level 5 Ima, a 12 year old girl, is on the run from the research facility in which she was created She runs from both physical and spiritual forces she does not understand in a new world she does not know Her journey crosses paths with those who would love her and those who would kill her This story is set in the not so distant future of America s heartland Restoration s Journey was both thrilling and satisfying Having read In The Image of Man shortly after it was published in 2014, I was excited to learn that the second novel of the Unseen Dominion series was about ready for publishing Restoration s Journey is a parallel story that actually occurs during the last third of In The Image of Man However, Restoration s Journey can easily be read without knowing anything about In The Image of Man.The flow of the scenes throughout the story were logical and didn t cause any difficulty when switching between the physical and spiritual realms There are some emotional scenes that left me either angry, sad, or overwhelmed with joy as they were intended to do On two occasions my eyes welled up with tears to the credit of Roush s writing prowess.I appreciate the author s dealings with Alzheimer s and the hope this fictional work provides Roush captures the feelings of loss and desperation many family members feel when a loved one falls prey to this despicable disease I appreciate, too, Roush s skill of weaving fundamental theology into this fictional work and providing ample space in my thoughts to consider the Creator s sovereignty in all things.Lastly, I like the way the topic of forgiveness is approached and the feelings that accompany both the potential giver of forgiveness and the potential receiver of forgiveness Forgiveness is not a religious topic but a human one and Roush s rendering of the topic is accurate to real world living. This novel is well written and I can t wait for the third novel in the series to be delivered Restoration s Journey is scheduled to be released to the public on March 1, 2016 I received a free review copy for an honest review.

Picking up where book one of the UNSEEN DOMINION series leaves off, RESTORATION S JOURNEY follows Ima s flight for freedom away from CeSiR Tech the only home she s ever had away from evil the only company she s ever known away from fear and abuse the only lasting emotion or contact she s ever felt Freedom, to be who she has truly been created to be At the age of twelve, Ima is on her own, armed so she thinks with only the last words of Doctor M Gregor to guide and to comfort her Following that guidance, Ima finds her way to the loving Sherwood residence where she is take in and shown true and unconditional love Unseen to Ima, or the Sherwoods, is a ferocious Spiritual battle, the true nature and value of which is not made known until the end, being waged for Ima a battle that sees the highest ranks of demonic and angelic involvement Bringing to mind C.S Lewis s SCREWTAPE LETTERS, the author plays the ranks of the demonic against Ima and her protectors in a witty manner that shows true insight into the operation of demonic forces in real life spiritual warfare I was fascinated to see the inner workings among the ranks in the demonic realm I never stopped to think of the inner working relationships or rivalries that exist between factions that must exist After all, what love and compassion could possibly exist among and between fallen beings that have a full understanding of their eternal condemnation condemnation without hope of restoration Inherent to the human condition is the fact that man is created in the image of God Take that one step down the ladder and what happens when man is made in his own image What happens to basic Christian dogma when lines are crossed At the end of the day, who gets to decide who or what the Supreme Creator gets to choose to love or reject Who gets to decide how to play the game from that point forward Do the rules change These are just some of the questions that begin to bounce around in my head as I read this book I think at the heart of the story is the theme of redemption love, forgiveness, acceptance and security Disclaimer I was given an advanced copy to read in exchange for an honest review I also need to make it known if for no other reason than vanity that I personally know the author Rating is based on an initial reading of an Advanced Reader Copy that may change after reading the final published version Using book one as a springboard for comparison 5 star rating , I have to notch the rating for this offering down a star The book reads well The plot is believable The characters are identifiable The subject engages my passion for spiritually relevant and doctrinally sound Christian literature But there s just something a tweak off from the writing style that doesn t match what I experienced in book one.

I greatly enjoyed reading Restoration s Journey The book offers insight for everyone into the spiritual warfare surrounding us, regardless of where you are in your spiritual journey you will benefit from this reading For me, this book painted a vivid image of the forces influencing our daily decisions As the story unfolds we learn about a twelve year old Ima Fredericks, her special circumstances, her lack of trust in people and her thirst to learn She is guided to a kind unassuming couple that take her in as their own As she grows attached to the couple she fears their rejection She struggles with the thoughts that no one could love her for who she is, that once they learn the truth about her she will be rejected by them Therefore, she is very guarded about sharing her past and struggles with the concept of guilt and grace Throughout the story you gain insight into the spiritual warfare surrounding Ima and the town On occasions I found it necessary to stop and reread sections to grasp all the interactions taking place The story tugs at your emotions, I found myself rooting for Ima, and sadden by the misfortunes to those that befriend her.I enjoyed the author s previous book In the Image of Man, so I was excited to receive a prerelease version of Restoration s Journey from a friend Reading In the Image of Man is not required to understand the storyline of this book However, I would recommend it since it does provide greater insight into the inner workings of the town.

This book grabbed my attention immediately After reading the first book In The Image of Man I was ready to continue the journey It was filled with suspense, and gave good insight to the human and spiritual world It was a good reality check as to what is happening around us and it flowed nicely between the two I was amazed at the descriptions and little details right down to the creatures wings There was one part I was a little confused on but cleared up as I continued the story When nearing the end I thought I knew how it was going to end, but lo and behold the author totally surprised me I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend others to read it.

Restoration s Journey was a fast read I fell in love with Ima in the previous book, In The Image of Man Ima has such a bright, innocent personality despite her deplorable living conditions in her past Everything is new to her as she escapes the facility I enjoyed the characters in this book who helped Ima on her journey of discovery This book brought both tears of laughter and sadness The Unseen Warriors were believable and thought provoking I think of this series often as I walk through my own life These books have brought a new awareness of Spiritual Beings fighting against me and for me This book is a book you won t soon forget.

Robert has created a fantastic talean adventure of light and life He uses the medium of words like an artist would paint and brush, creating layers of truth embedded in life Bringing to light the unseen spiritual battle that take place all around us, Restoration s Journey invites no, demands the reader to come along on this adventure I found it to be a delightful read targeted for the MG and YA audience, but even an old guy like myself managed to get lost in the fantastic web of color, sight, sound and heart woven by Robert s hand.
