I enjoyed reading about a fellow road manager, though Perkins certainly operates at a way higher level for much longer than I His details convey the heady days of the Allman Brothers Band, from when he joined to its various declines and resurgences I wish he d included about his life before the band Too, Perkins could have written about the mechanics of shows I would love to have read about the mechanics of each type of show, from the early days of playing clubs and small theaters to the operations involved with coliseum venues Too, while his non professional writer abilities are sometimes mundane, he also writes easily enough I loved his addition of a lot of pictures as well If you re specifically interested in the Allman Brothers Band and the heyday of its ilk, check Perkins book out.

I read this years ago when I lived in Macon, GA, where the Allman Brothers Band got their start Three houses down the street from me was the first house where they are lived together, and Duane and Berry are buried at the end of that steet It was a time where I was fascinated by the band since so much happened to them in that tiny Southern town The book was okay not great, not horrible But it was another behind the scenes look at the rise of the band and the tragedies that soon overtook them all.
