salad days.the first review i wrote for this book was a kind of encapsulation of everything i have since learned about M M but did not know Back Then, in the days when i thought M M meant Male Male and not Male ish Male esque those were the days.you know of what i speak back when something so ludicrous as a character named Tornado being thusly christened because he could suck dicklike a tornadodid not strike anyone as even a little bit ridonk.back before i understood that the american cowboy is to the cozy, suburban american romance reader what the highland prince is to the cozy, british romance reader recreational masculinity abuse.we like our cowboys and our highlanders, because the idea of an outdoorsy, rugged, sloe eyed savage fucking our guts out is a lot attractive than the sun ravaged, horse bestenched, no underwear wearing taint stainked bunion poxed melanoma having manual laborers with approximately 3 teeth and a kind of chitinous exoskeleton of filth encrusting all their creases.we re not so much into quite that degree of cowboy authenticity.but the blue jeans the hat the bowlegged swagger and shitkicker hero pose oh, yes gut me up against the barn, tor, like one of your french girls.so that s how you get this mindless, equine scented, wildly improbable piece of poo that s how you get rapey Carraghs and MacGuttybusters with E Z Access Kilten Kocks.and whatever the fuck that little purse at the front is called.idealized male um, ideals.a kind of hypermasculine yet utterly, distractingly, viscerally false cock puppetry, like I AM A RUGGED COWPOKE WHO DON T TAKE NO SASSAFRASS FROM NOBODY SO WHY CAIN T YOU SEE MY TEARS for fuck s sake his name is tor na do yeah.so.dafuq were we talking about, here oh right.selective application of critical thinking in the service of escapist happyfuntyme.and it is fun make no mistake.fun if you don t think about anything.so much skill and craft thusly applied in the service of entertaining a reader blessed with that degree of escapist dedication i mean, you could make a case that this isn t a cowboy contemporary so much as a western fantasy.lots of good scenes, and memorable dialogue, and skillful characterization.it s just to appreciate them, you ve got to ignore Teh Stupid but that said that s all popular entertainment, isn t it to different degrees, of course, but that s why nobody ever poops in a romance, right even though we know perfectly well that, in real life, they d turn septic and fuckin die if they didn t aint nobody wanna be reading about no realnezz gurl, you be buggin so that s not the charge i level against this book.context sensitive reality in the service of better entertainment that s perfectly fine.cuz every author does that even me.no, the crime committed by this cowpatty of a story is pretty tragic, actually.because i m not even sure it could have been avoided.i m talking about the crime of NOT BEING VERY GOOD so here i am, two years later, trying to make sense of why i can slice this thing up 19 different ways today, but Back To The Future, all i could manage was Dunno how I finished this All a blur of dislike So antipathetic I forgot to mark it as read, even The story a pretext for cowboy fuckery There s no there, thereexcept for a bit of actual conflict towards the end.In a barn, of course.Meh see see that guy the one who wrote that review that guy s flummoxed.bemused, even this guy this guy here today this guy s got a goddamned grudge.because fucking on bales of hay is like fucking on a bed of fifty thousand deep tissue hypodermic needles, cunningly angled so as to remain optimally positioned to stab your ass no matter which way you shift and shuffle to mitigate the comprehensively unpleasant sensation of being pierced by by sharpened sticks all over your body at once.and that s before you shimmy outta your jeans like a hoor so you can rut with a barbarian.happy trails

4 STARS Holy HELLthis was a HOT ONE.Up against the wall,In a hay loft,Tied up in a barn,A hot 4 way in a field..These men had some stamina But,aside from the SEX the story was actually really goodI went into this one knowing it had lots of hot sex and cheating.I didn t want to put the cheating aspect in a spoiler because I think it s important to understand this book.Jake and Tor both work on the same ranch and pretty much hate each other until one night things get down and dirty. They kind of become fuck buddies which eventually becomes so much .Their story spans over many years. They start a relationship that was highly passionate but along the way they get complacent and Tor crosses the line, leaving Jake devastated. It s hard to evaluate cheating because it s a highly emotive subject. What I will say is that I think it s very well written.I m maybe a bit weird because I quite enjoy a cheating aspect,I think it adds a reality to some stories and in this case it was really well done. This book is obviously a lot about the sex but when it gets to around 65% it takes a much emotional aspect.I m all about sex in books but I actually enjoyed the emotional part of the story here. These men both made mistakes one than the other but it s a story I really, really enjoyed

Ceaseless in their desire and ardor, relentless in their passion and consumed by lust Tor and Jake, Damn.they are Hot Chris Owen, you certainly know how to write sex scenesI am late AGAIN to the party This book and I, have been embroiled in conflicting arguments, for and against Tor, which has been highly entertaining Having now read the book, I fully understand the reasons behind the contradictory emotions of Love, Hate, Passion, Disgust, Anger and Forgiveness My own conclusion being you Hate to Love it and Love to Hate it plus it is Hot as Hell which makes me feel the author got it right To evoke so much emotion good and bad from readers, it must be something special, whether you like it or not The book is told completely from Jake s POV, so in my humble opinion we are already biased, not being privy to Tors thoughts and feelings, his inner turmoil and confusion hidden from us and his secrets not shared until he is ready to discuss them with Jake There is no insta love between them it is a relationship where the dynamics are constantly changing over a four year period In fact, initially, Jake hates Tor with a passion, to him he has no redeeming qualities and there is not one thing, that makes him even remotely like Tor except maybe the sexual tension between them that has yet to be explored It does also cross Jake s mind that they were actually alike, but Tor s smart ass, arrogant and full of attitude nature, which in Tor is negative, Jake see s as positive in himself and so, the journey begins, from fuck buddies, to friends with benefits, to lovers, to forever with one HUGE FUCK UP in the middle There is nothing pretty about Tor and Jake, they are in fact your typical rough and tough, hard working cowboys, both ruggedly handsome, who also happen to have the libido of a stallion and the stamina of a marathon runner They are insatiable, unable to appease their desire for each other In other words, they seem to be walking around with a constanthard on Taking advantage of each other anywhere and everywhereHoly Hotness Our two MC s are both flawed, in that they have deep issues in their pasts, with life changing moments, which haunt them Jake has been alone for most of his life, his parents zealot homophobes threw him out at 17to them, he was dead Now, the closet thing to a family he has is Doug the owner of Gillians Ranch who took him in when he had nowhere to go Jake is happy on the Ranch, has no ambition for himself and wants only the simple things in life, so when our impulsive Tor, who when he wants something grabs for it regardless of the consequences, makes the first move, Jake is very tight lipped Having had no role models to speak of he has no understanding of what a relationship entails and finds it hard to express himself, his past and previous loneliness attributing to the fact Tor is far confident than Jake and a bit of a lad, animated in comparison to Jake s quiet and unassuming nature, but Tor is also compassionate and caring wanting nothing than to protect Jake, whilst dealing with his own inner demons and guilt. So invested was I with these characters, I laughed, cried, blushed, been so angry to the point where my Kindle almost learnt to fly, felt sick to my stomach with the pain of deception and conflicted in my own emotions at these two men who had it all, but somehow managed to make a mess of things through lack of communication There is a lot of sex in this book, in fact I had to put it aside for a while, as the sexual tension, my own.not theirs was becoming uncomfortable. sucking, moaning, grinding, rubbing, touching, stroking, teasing, kissing, shuddering, slurping, twitching, groaning, thrusting, FUCKING COMING..and that was all on one page If i could give it than 5 on the hotness level, I would However, as much as I love smexy man on man action, there was probably a chapter too much OMGdid I really just say too much sex There is, also a great story between the sex, but you need to get around the 30% mark before it kicks in proper I loved this book, and I will now be popping off to buy the next one in the series..4.25 stars.

Let me start with warning you that this reviews contains spoilers Don t read it, if you don t want to know what happens

I had to think about my review for a bit..I also had to cool down before writing down my thoughts because this book was extremely HOT.and I do mean really really HOT

SO, let me introduce you to Jake and Tor Jake and Tor work together at the same ranch Jake is sort of the boss right hand man, and Tor is a farmhand Jake has been living at the ranch for a long long timeTor has been there a lot shorter They are both gay They are not out, and only Jake s boss knows everything about him They are both in there late thirties These two start out as sort of frenemies They don t like each other all that much, but this all changes, after one very hot encounter They are all over each other from that point on, and they even come out together Wellthey are kind of forced to come out after an incident occurs So pretty soon everyone knows about the two of them. This brings with it some major bigotrywhich of course pissed me way the hell off People can be so stupid Jake and Tor are both dirty boys They have a lot of sexand when I say a lotI mean a whole freaking lot They also play around with other men In the beginning of the book there was a foursomewhich I have to say was very nicely done It s the only one we get to read about There are some references in the book about the two of them playing with someone else, but it doesn t go into detail They only do it when they are together and when they are both into it.There is tons of grunting and moaning These men can t seem to get enough of each other It was actually kind of sweet how much they wanted to be with the other It was also very HOTdid I mention HOT yet P They are together for some time in the bookmonths turn into years and things pretty much stay the same way Which is where the actual problems start These twothey need each other and they really do love each other, but they don t talk They fight sometimes and they fuck Instead of talking about what s bothering them, they solve everything with a fuck That s when the cheating comes into play Normally I hate cheating in a book, but I really wanted to read this one and I m so glad I did The cheating happens, when they ve been together for about 4 years It came out of nowhere and even though I knew it was gonna happenI was still shocked I just wanted to punch Tor in the teeth God he made me so angry I just couldn t believe he did that to Jake.Poor Jake is crushed of course, and when he finds out it wasn t even a one time kind of deal, his heart breaks some At least he got Travis that s the little bitch Tor was with fired He let s Tor stay however He knows Tor s mother is sick and Tor is sending all his money her way He knows Tor s familyand he doesn t want them to pay, for what Tor did I felt so fucking sorry for Jake I didn t think he did anything wrong to deserve any of this Of course Tor is sorryreally really sorry But that doesn t change a thing for Jake He is done He might not be able to kick Tor of the ranch, but he does kick him out of their room He lives like a zombie for a month or so, throwing up and crying and when he s done, he tries to pick up his life He doesn t start any fights with Tor, what s the point He thinks it s best of they just try to be colleagues and do their jobs. This goes on for a long time I think it was 8 10 months Tor leaves 4 months after he figures out that Jake won t give him a second chance Eventually an old friend colleague comes to visit, and gives Jake an asswooping about not giving Tor a second chance Now that pissed me off even Who the hell gave him the right to fucking blame Jake AssholeI really hated Hound right then I lost all my respect for the dude, what an asswipe. This get s Jake thinking and eventually he goes in search of Tor Even though Tor really pissed me off, I did understand where Jake was coming from He loved Tor and he knew Tor loved him back He really wanted to be with him and if you want something so bad.you gotta go and fight for it He made Tor grovel and he made him pay He didn t just roll over It was his decision to make.Of course there is some delicious steam at the endlol Now even though this one ends on a HEA, I m gonna read book 2 I really need to read about Tor redeeming himself some and I heard book 2 is like one long ass epilogue and I really need that closure right now.I m so glad I gave this one a go, I am sure I will re read it many times in the future.I would recommend this one, to those who don t mind a lot of sex and cheating in their book That said it was also very sweet at times Also sorry for all the gif s I got a bit carried away P Follow me

I hated this Let me explain something I m young, yes Some may say naive But one thing I am not is stupid I know what cheating is I know I hated it and if you want to read this for the sex, my advice would be to go and watch some porn It would be easier than this. Not a fan of cheating Any of my Goodreads friends will know I hate cheating For a couple who had so much sex, for Tor to have a 3 month long affair was ridiculous I do not know why Jake took him back and I don t know why I cared after a while but I did. This book left me with issues I don t have a problem with erotica But when there s cheating in a book when I want romance I get extremely pissed The book was long and it was way too long for all the sex, cheating and weak characters I don t know who was weaker, Tor might have been the weakest for me at first Now I believe it was Jake He took the ass back I wanted to slap him for that, it was stupid I am still spitting fire about that.Tor and Jake You two need to get your acts together.Between Tor s cheating and Jake s ability to sleep with him, leave him again and then take him back all in the space of one book I am destroyed I needed at least one MC I could love I did not find one in this.Did I also mention that there was a menage scene Oh yeah At the beginning of the book They had sex with another couple YAY Not I didn t know about that But it wasn t what I wanted to read And between that and all the sex these two had, it made the cheating even harder on me, if that s even possible Ugh, I was so angry reading this.I can say the writing was pretty good and if things had gone differently, I would have liked it a lot .My final thoughts on this book I gave too much time to this book

I did it I finally read this bookfrom the very beginning to the very end Every single word of it Surprisingly, I ended up loving it Now, I usually hate books with this much sex I mean it literally moved from one sex scene to the next But Jake and Tor were so sweet and hot together I never even thought about skimming and I never got bored with them They were just too fucking hot Plus, I connected with both of them immediately And somewhere between all the fucking there was a story about two very stubborn self destructive men Yeah, they both made their own reckless mistakes but there is happiness and redemption in the end.So, I know there is a lot of controversy over this book and I m not going to go into any arguments about the cheating I just want to state that yes, the cheating was bad Yes, I hated it Do I hate Tor No I do not because I loved Tor from the very beginning and even though I don t agree with what he did, I understand it Yes, I forgave him in the end So did Jake For those of you who have read this, here is the scene that made me cry view spoiler Jake looked up from his plate and met Tor s eye by accident He opened his mouth intending to ask for the salt but what came out was, Why are you still here He sounded confused, even to his own ears, but as soon as he said it he wanted to know If it was just the job that was fine, but they were both falling apart Tor looked even worse than he did some mornings, though Jake hadn t heard him crying again.Elias and Kirk froze, then Elias picked up his plate, ready to leave Before he could even push back his chair Tor said, Because you re here His voice was quiet, but he sounded sure of his answer Oh Pass the salt, please That night he couldn t hold his supper for even ten minutes hide spoiler

This was such a fabulous story and I don t hate Tor..yes he made a dreadful mistake, which both he and Jake payed for but Tor was truly remorseful and he deserved that second chance and maybe they both needed a shake up to realise how bad things were getting It s romantic, angsty, sad and lovely The struggle and emotion and finally they got through all those horrible misunderstandings to be genuinely happy together There was a lot of sex but it really didn t bother me or matter too much as it wasn t meaningless or superficial, in fact it was both touching and sexy A wonderfully written romance, I highly recommended this.
